Alchemy.

Alchemy.

I know others have said they like it alot, but Ive not really spent much time with it till today, and have to say I really like its control!

Ok, it doesnt have voice per channel, but it does support poly pressure, and also its really easy to get direct envelope control – great for breath control.

(just look for things controlled by relevant AHDSR, and change to a control in mod, and learn the control… you could do direct learn but this way you can see your input better)

we should start hounding Camel Audio now for Alchemy 2 to have voice per channel… it would be absolute awesome…

any other alchemy tips?

  1. Yes, creating a collection of really good “out of the box” sounds that make good use of the Eigenharp capabilities would be a very viable goal.

Usage of the native synth agents would be optimal from an integration, expression and “direct connection” point of view.

Export and import of sub-rigs will be a very important mid-term goal for EigenD.

In the mean time some scripts that add interesting synth rigs to the standard layouts (or others) could do the trick – was fiddling with the synth agents some time ago, plan to revive the project. (Unfortunately my sound design experience is limited, so a big amount of trial and error is involved. With a big portion of the latter…)

Alchemy is also a very viable platform as it sounds really nice and is available in the base package. Good thing is – it is much easier to incorporate into arbitrary setups with current EigenD. Per voice support would be the probably most desirable feature for a new Alchemy version indeed!

A question: does anybody know whether it is possible to load user presets created with the full version of Alchemy in Alchemy player?

  2. Unfortunately, no you cannot load user presets in player ( eg with new samples)

I think only factory and official camel audio licensed packs.

( but alchemy full is worth it, and can be picked up relatively cheaply @ kvr.)

  3. Pity… Perhaps we can arrange something with Camelaudio so they sign us an “3D-extression instruments preset” library that could be delivered as part of EigenD.

Before anybody can sign anything this preset lib would have to exist first though… 🙂

Have an Alchemy license almost since it came out. Time to start to really use it… 🙂

  4. The synth rig idea, I’ve started and stopped a few times… Partly because there are a few agents missing to do it properly.

But would be good to do it, as the agents required are pretty straightforward and the stk lib covers much of what would be needed.

  5. ^^agreed, this route would probably be the “holy grail” for hassle-free, full precision, per voice modulated presets. The gain in expressiveness would easily make up for some edge that some 3rd party plugins (that are not modulatable per voice and don’t support high res input) have regarding static sound quality (these guys know what they are doing, putting years of research into “sounding better”). But the most convincing “analogueness” will come from the player anyways 🙂

  6. I found Alchemy to be one of the easiest AUs to control and get interesting results.  Happy you gave it a try.  There are some very interesting libraries.
