Disappearing MIDI devices
Disappearing MIDI devices
This is a weird one…
(not this is not virus specific.. as will become clear :))
my Virus is connected via USB to present the keyboard as a midi device. At the end of each session, I power down the virus, and put the mac to sleep. Next session, I wake up mac and Virus, and the Virus Midi device is back… and I can use it, say in Ableton, no problem.
BUT as soon as I start EigenD and load setup, it disappears , and I have to rescan midi devices to get it back (or power cycle virus)
only happens first time in session…, I can close/open eigend after than and its fine.
Now… point to note, is my EigenD setup is linked to my Virus midi.
Initially I ‘blamed’ the Virus driver.
But then, I cabled up the midi via my audio interface, and changed the EigenD setup to point to the AI midi interface… and it does the same thing.
has anyone see anything similar?
Hi, just arrived to the community.
Hi, just arrived to the community. Well, I DONT own an Eigenharp. In fact, I just discovered the existence of this incredible device and I am so excited about it that somehow I had to be here. In the past I have been into many different styles including pop, rock, punk, flamenco, samba, bossa nova, children music, experimental, ambience improvised poetry. I have some material to post if anyone is interested. Just want to learn from you if you agree. Thank you all very much and keep taping. I am member number 123. It’s funny. Reinon

Im trying, but it sounds a very strange problem, keyboard appears to work, metro works … yet no sound, and menus display, yet don’t allow selection…
post your ideas there, I’m starting to run out :o)

Could someone in the know post an explanation of what the Channels and Filters really do, and how to use them correctly?
I know they can be critical, but don’t see when and where and how they actually matter…. for instance, if I have multiple KeyGroups linkable to the same AudioUnit Rigs, should I be labeling each cable from the same KeyGroup with the same Channel Number? Or use the same Channel Number for each cable going to a given AudioUnit Rig, i.e., same number from several KeyGroups? And how far upstream / downstream does one need to apply the Channel number? Not sure what the principle really is….
And the Filters? I see reference to it being the opposite…. And I see it used for create “SuperMIDI” buttons that are carved out of the assigned field of KeyGroup notes and intended to send Roll, Yaw, or Pressure messages as separately assignable (MIDI? VST/AU Automation?) control messages…. I’ve found I can reprogram existing setups to move those keys around, but when I create them from scratch, they don’t do anything….. And I really, really want some controller keys in my Setups…
(And what IS that little radio button with the not-quite-“a” symbol at the end of the WorkBench lines where you assign Channels /Filters to cables/wiring?)
Thanks much. And as always, if this has already been answered clearly elsewhere, feel free to redirect me to that source!
Just a note about using current version of Kontakt 5.
Just a note about using current version of Kontakt 5.
I’ve used Kontakt for years, and have been using it with my Alpha since getting the Alpha. (The SonicCoutureVST instruments are excellent, by the way…)
After not doing so for a long time, I just downloaded the updates, to version 5.3.0.6464/3.1.0.4.
Very bad move. This version completely crashes EigenD every time you close the GUI interface. (Regardless of which of the three methods you use….) After a day of assuming that it was my custom setups, I finally figured out that it crashes in the Factory setups also…
Fortunately I had easy access to an earlier version (5.1.0.6066 / 3.0.014) that came on my Ultimate 9 disk, and rolling back to that immediately eliminated the problem in all setups…
I’ll send a similar message to the NI folk, but unless it is affecting more than EigenD users they may not be rushing out a fix….
Hope this saves someone else the pain!
New pico user here, waiting anxiously to see if my order for an alpha gets filled.
New pico user here, waiting anxiously to see if my order for an alpha gets filled. Been trolling the group for a while…pleasure to meet you all!
One question to start…is it possible to connect two harps to a single eigend instance? One crazy thought I had if there aren’t enough alpha orders for the build is to get two taus and attach them back to back, which appeals to me as an ewi player used to using my thumbs for octaves and pitch bend.
Hi Mark Harris
Hi Mark Harris
I wanted to check your idea with piano-style velocities and compiled
eigend.2.10 from your fork. All is good but for some reason scale illuminator won’t load. Here is what I got in the log. I admit, I don’t use the latest version of the agent. I wonder if you’ve some insight what causing it.

Anyone building EigenD on OSX of late?
Anyone building EigenD on OSX of late? I haven’t done this in a while and had deleted my build environment due to lack of space on my laptop.
Having just downloaded the source and cannot get it to build. Can someone remind me of the steps I need to go through?
Any tips on making videos of performance?
Any tips on making videos of performance?
not really Eigenharp specific, but I’m wondering if anyone has any tips…
I describe my setup/issues on my blog here: http://wp.me/36IDJ
… or does anyone know of a good forum/community which might cover such things?
Thanks Mark
